Well, I am on Day…..honestly I have no idea. Things are going ok. Once again, watching the hubs eat pretzels, popcorn, bread, Crystal Light, etc is KILLING ME! I need to remember to only do Whole 30 when he is traveling! We are 2 weeks into the football season and I haven’t had a drop of booze…despite my team’s pathetic showings (oh, Bears, how I love you and hate Cutler). Inches are slowly coming off. My tummy is much less puffy and I feel so much better. I made a batch of bone broth that I am using to make egg drop soup for dinner tonight ๐ Filled the freezer with veggies; I swear my fridge veggie crisper is where good food goes to die. I think it is the out of sight out of mind thing. I forget what is in there until it is too late to save it!
I have been busy with work and starting up my AVON business. My foot (plantar fasciitis) has been especially bad. Bad enough I am seeking out yet another doctor to see what we can do to get me through my upcoming Peru trip and then deal with any surgery when we get back. Not much else to report here!
2 sleeps till I get another year older and maybe a bit wiser! Birthday celebration without cake…hmmmm…could be worse!

For most vacays I start my preparation by making lists… list after list of what I need to buy, need to pack, need to do before we leave. Never has ‘get body and mind in the best health’ ever made a list.
Traveling all the way to Peru to experience the food, culture, music, Inca ruins, shopping, etc is a HUGE adventure for my husband and me. Outside of Mexico, Canada, and Jamaica, my passport is bare. I cannot risk getting sick, feeling crappy, not sleeping when going to, what may be, a once in a lifetime place.
A year ago, I discovered Whole 30 and have never been the same. Yes, I falter and go back to bad habits. I mean who doesn’t love wine, ice cream, cheese, pizza, oh and bloody marys!!?? I always know why I feel crappy, can’t sleep, breakout, get moody, and so on. The best thing I can do to prepare for our trip (other than get crazy vaccines!) is get my mind, body, especially immune system in check before we go. Monday I began another Whole30. No cheats, no excuses. This is GO time people!! A bonus is the bloating disappearing, inches and pounds lost…that is not my focus or reason doing this. This is about being able to experience another land to its fullest by feeling amazing ๐
I may succumb to altitude sickness or God forbid travelers diarrhea (please, Dear Lord, NO!), but I will not feel any side-effects of a poor lifestyle leading up to the trip. I will indulge in the Peruvian cuisine (super excited for our culinary tour!). I will try their signature Pisco Sour cocktail. I willย eat ceviche. I will not eat cuy. I may feel a bit blah after a meal with my triggers such as gluten and sugar. In moderation and with hydration, I think I can have the best of Lima and Cuzco and still feel ok.
So, here I go again! Eating clean, healthy, nutrient dense food, minimizing artificial light at night (love my orange glasses!), getting 8+ hours of sleep a night, practicing yoga for my mind and soul, and remembering all the things I am grateful for! It’s a wonder I ever stop being Whole30!!

I struggled a bit yesterday. Hard time waking up and getting my sh*t together at 5am.
Result- pathetic, but compliant breakfast
Tuesday brought running late, but a much better breakfast
Can you see I am ‘egged-out’?
Looking forward to being off Wednesday and Thursday for more food prep. Then off to San Antonio Saturday morning!

I travel to San Antonio next week for a work conference. In preparation, I ordered my fave flavor RxBars (coffee cacao) and dragged out the dehydrator to start a batch of beef jerky. These two things are a travel staple for me.
Hopefully I will have time to make some fresh fruit roll-ups too! Bars, jerky, fried fruit leather, and some almonds should keep me on track!

Sunday was the big shopping day and for prep. Made a batch of beef bone broth in the crockpot (that I finally plugged in on the patio). I LOVE bone broth, but the smell in the house for 36+hrs makes me ill. Set it all up on the patio, locked the lid, and let it simmer away.
From the broth, I whipped up a quick soup for lunch. Took cooled broth added fresh spinach, sliced mushrooms, zucchini, and sliced roast beef. Heated for 4 minutes and done!
Dinner was buffalo chicken legs and green beans.
It is amazing how much better I feel after eating clean/paleo/whole30 for even a day!! Must remember this…everyday!!
G’Night all!!
